Website is blocked - staff and pupil web filtering

Website is reported as blocked

There is very little filtering applied to Staff web browsing., Student filtering includes categories such as: 'adult', 'abortion', 'dating', 'gambling', 'extremism', 'hacking'

Websites are classified based on site content, features, and safety. The school websites are filtered differently for Staff, and Pupils (pupils on a per-school basis). Note that "advertisements" are currently blocked for pupils.

You can visit Test A Site to see how a website is currently categorised, if you feel the category is incorrect you can also use Test A Site to submit a website category change request which, if approved by our third-party web content filtering company, will update the school internet filtering rules within 24 hours.

If the category is correct, but the site is still blocked for pupils, then please submit an IT ticket to request the site be allowed for pupils at a particular school.

Some ordinary websites are not accessible

Sometimes the user-identification system fails to correctly identify the logged-in user, and the web filter falls-back to only a basic level of internet access. This can occur if a computer is unlocked (rather than logged-in) or when swapping between wired, wireless, or moving locations.
