There are continuous security and efficiency updates to computers. It is important to check for both Windows and Dell System updates to ensure you keep your device in optimal condition. Always try an apply these updates as soon as possible - preferably on-site, and at the end of the working day will minimise disruption to teaching.
For Windows Updates:
First Step:
- Check if you have an orange/red dot in your toolbar – this indicates an important update is waiting.
- Click the icon and follow the on-screen instructions to install update
- A restart may be required, so ensure that your work is saved
Additional Step (example shown for Windows 11):
- Open Windows, and search 'Check for Updates'
- Click Enter and it should open this page
- Start installing updates by following on the screen
- Restart the screen, but before make sure to save all the work
- You should see a screen that says 'You're up to date' after the restart
For Dell Updates (if Dell Command Update available)
- Type in ‘Dell’ to the search bar on your windows toolbar (Bottom Left)
- Click on ‘Dell Command Update' (note that not all computers have Dell Command Update)
- Select Check for Updates, wait a moment then install all critical and recommended updates
